KARACHI: The Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) engaged in defence production has sought expertise from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) for export of non-classified defence products.

Masood Alam Rizvi, Vice Chairman, EPB, gave a detailed briefing to the HIT officials on the working of the Bureau and strategies of export promotion pursued by it. He also apprised the defence production officials about working of various EPB departments and functions and responsibilities assigned to various officers in the Bureau.

Rizvi also explained the HIT officials to modern techniques of marketing for export and various facilities and incentives offered to the exporters. In this connection he particularly mentioned the Export Facilitation Committee, which meets once a month to sort out problems being faced by the exporters.

âThe defence production officials inquired about the possibility of setting up a display centre in Karachi or in other cities for the display of products manufactured in HIT. Rizvi offered HIT to display some of its items in the EPB centre when the time a new showroom is in place.

The HIT Director General Lt. General Javed Hamid thanked the EPB vice chairman for information on the role and functions of Bureau in exports and lauded the EPB's role in boosting exports.

Rizvi assured the HIT officials of all help and expertise the Bureau has in export promotion for setting up a mechanism for the export of defence productions by the HIT.
