Education a tool of real progress: Musharraf

LARKANA: Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf, has underlined the importance of education and termed it as the tool of real progress for the nation.

He was addressing the 7th Annual Parents Day of Cadet College near Mohenjodaro some 26 km off here on Tuesday.

The Chief Executive also expressed the need of a better education system which is essential for national progress.

He said the students were the future builders and could make or mar the nation.

He further said he was very much impressed to see the smartly turned out cadets and pleased to learn that majority of them hailed from rural areas and all the four provinces of the country.

He said these cadets would shoulder the future responsibilities.

Quoting the Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, he said, "the students of today would shoulder future responsibilities and they can make or hamper the progress and they should keep themselves away from provincialism, sectarianism and focus on education."

He announced a grant of Rs 2 million for the college and Rs 25 thousand and a gold medal for the best teacher of the year.

He also announced Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 for the cadets securing first and second positions respectively in HSC and Matriculation annual examinations.

He said he would consider extending financial assistance for the construction of a swimming pool and riding club.

Earlier, the Principal Cadet College Larkana Professor Mohammad Yousuf presented address of welcome in which he apprised the chief guest of the functioning of the college and also of the problems and requirement of the institution.ÑAPP
