DMC south gears up

repair work of

roads, drains

KARACHI: The District Municipal Corporation South, has geared up the on-going repair work of roads and drains in the district on the directive of Administrator Mohammed Waseem.

The DMC's Engineering Department has already completed the repair and carpeting of Mishamle Road at Jubilee round-about, Patangi Road and Eidgah Lane in City Division.

These roads were lying unattended since long and their repair work was undertaken on the administrator's directive.

In Clifton Division the DMC is carrying out the carpeting of Main Road Azam Basti. The DMC said the work was in progress and would be completed soon, thereby providing relief to the motorists.

In Lyari Division the repair and carpeting of various trenches and patch repair near government girl school at Tannery Road have been completed.

The repair of Chakiwara Road near DMC's Zonal Office has also been completed.

The DMC has taken up the renovation work of the monument at Hasht Chowk where beautiful tiles were being placed and grills installed.

The corporation has carried out the cleaning and desilting of various drains including Kalri Nullah near Juna Masjid at the junction of Atmaram Road, the drain near Awan Road in Akhtar Colony, the drain from Farooqi Masjid up to Street No 1, Azam Town, the drain from Al-Karim Cold Drink up to Street No 15 in Azam Basti.

Meanwhile, the DMC staff has removed about 200 banners and direction boards from various parts of the district including 97 from Clifton area and 90 from Lyari area.

Administrator Mohammed Waseem said that the on-going cleanliness campaign would continue unabated so that the entire district was given a new look.

In this regard, he said, all available resources of the corporation were being utilised at maximum level.

He said he had already issued directives that while cleaning the drains, the silt taken out should be removed without any delay so that the same did not drops again into the drain and insanitary conditions were prevented.ÑAPP
