Challan submitted in serial killer case
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: The Sessions Judge, Lahore, Mian Jehangir, on Tuesday referred the case of alleged serial killer Javed Iqbal, to Additional District & Sessions Judge Allah Baksh Ranjha, for its early disposal.
Earlier the police submitted the challan.
The Session Judge directed the Additional Sessions Judge to conclude the case within a month.
He told police to produce all the accused before the Additional District & Sessions Judge on February 9.
Earlier, the police produced the accused before the court of a judicial magistrate Mian Ghulam Hussain along with the other accused amid tight security, and submitted the challan before him.
The police, however, failed to submit medical report about the bones to be prepared by King Edward Medical Laboratory. The Magistrate observed that the report was sufficient to proceed with the case but he asked the police to submit the report later on.
He referred the case to the Sessions judge Lahore for its disposal in accordance with the law.
The police produced the accused before the Sessions Judge Lahore, who asked Javed Iqbal, the main accused, whether they had engaged any counsel for pleading their case .He replied in the negative. On this, the judge said that they would be provided counsel to defend their case when charges would be framed against them.
Then he referred the case to the Additional District and Sessions Judge Lahore for its early disposal.
