CE reiterates pledge to improve inter-provincial ties

LARKANA: The Chief Executive, Gen Pervez Musharraf, has reiterated his commitment to revive national economy, initiate good governance and harmonise inter-provincial relationship.

He was addressing a gathering of the citizens of Larkana division, on the first leg of his visit to the interior parts of Sindh, at Circuit House lawns, Larkana on Tuesday.

Musharraf said his visit to different parts of the province was aimed to meet the people from both rural and urban areas, eliciting their opinion on-significant national issues.

The CE referred to the situation on October 12, 1999 making change in national political scenario inevitable. "National integrity did not exist at all and the economy was at bay", he said adding that "all state organs had been politicised by the former regime, and as such the foundations of the country were under jolts and jerks.

The Chief Executive said the present government was determined to strengthen Pakistan by promoting national integration and added that all provinces" have to stay together, whether it be Sindh, Punjab, NWFP or Balochistan", because the prosperity and progress of one province would ultimately reflect on the prosperity of Pakistan.

"Unless we stand united, we could never benefit Pakistan", he observed.

The CE said his government would adopt a balanced approach, and would make endeavours to give all the provinces their due rights.

The meeting was largely attended by representatives of local growers and people from all walks of life. Office-bearers of Larkana Chamber of Commerce & Industry present on the occasion spoke about their problems at the end of the function as the CE invited them to speak.
