10 Customs officials suspended for corruption
ISLAMABAD: Five senior officials of the Custom Department have been suspended after they were found involved in corruption.
According to the official sources, Additional Custom Collector Khan Sarwar, Assistant Collector Kamran Jan, one superintendent and three inspectors were suspended after they declared by the army monitoring cell (Gilgit), as responsible for the huge financial loss they had caused to the national exchequer by handing over to the smugglers Chinese goods worth Rs. 4 billion at Dinwar, Gilgit district on payment of just Rs. 0.4 million as custom duty.
Member Custom has ordered a through probe against the suspended officials and efforts are underway to recover losses from them. PPI
