Lesco gave 23,848 new connections in Okara

LAHORE: As many as 23,848 commercial, industrial and domestic tubewell connections were given to people during the first half of the current fiscal year in Okara circle of Lesco (Lahore Electric Supply Company).

Superintending Engineer of Circle, Ch. Zahoor told APP here on Monday that 21,370 domestic, 2,393 commercial, 54 industrial and 31 tubewell connections were given on first come first served and purely on merit during the period under review in the entire Okara district including tehsil Chunian, district Kasur.

He said that all the new applications for the grant of power connections were entertained through the window operation and processed and scrutinised by the competent authority in accordance with the procedure and criterion laid down by the Wapda. He said that pending applications will also be given connections soon.

He said that all executive engineers and sub-divisional officers of Chunian, Okara and Depalpur divisions have been directed to redress the genuine grievances of consumers at their door-steps and personally ensure the timely despatch of bills.

Also, strict action will be taken against any officials indulging in over or excessive or bogus billing, he added.

The SE said that XENs and SDOs have also been entrusted the challenging task of the curtailing line losses, detecting pilferage of energy, and improving service, otherwise action will be initiated against the negligent officials.

He said that overall performance of all SEs, XENs and SDOs is being monitored by the Lesco Chief Executive Brig Mohammad Arshad Tariq, and officials who fail to achieve the targets will be pulled up while those showing good performance are being rewarded accordingly. APP
