KTAC calls for
stepping up
Ehtesab process
KARACHI: The Karachi Tajir Action Committee (KTAC) has underlined the need to further accelerate the accountability process and said until looted money is recovered dream of economic revival and corruption-free society may not materialise.
The KTAC in its resolution here on Monday said that defaulters of utility bills, beneficiaries of the last governments' tailored policies rather all the corrupt elements should go through transparent and impartial accountability process.
"Billions of rupees of outstanding loans, defaulted utility bills, widespread corruption and written-off loans were the root-cause of the deteriorated state of economy", KTAC Chairman Imran Baghpatee said.
"Transparent and tough accountability was old demand of traders' community which in the past was not heard", he added.
He said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leadership failed to fulfil their commitments they made to the masses. Instead, he continued, leaders of the big two parties looted the national exchequer and stashed their wealth abroad.
Imran Baghpatee said the people were anxiously looking for timely solid and significant results from the present set-up specially the elimination of corruption, economic revival, and ensuring peace and security.ÑAPP
