Govt attaches top
priority to promotion of
ads sector: JJ
KARACHI: The Adviser to Chief Executive on National Affairs and Media Development, Javed Jabbar on Monday said the present government attaches top priority to the promotion and flourishment of advertising sector in the country and would do all possible in this regard.
Speaking at a meeting organised by Pakistan Advertising Association (PAA), Javed Jabbar appreciated the PAA and its Chairman Rasheed Umer Thanvi for his proposal for a committee to bring about cordial relationship between state media and the advertisers.
At the meeting it was decided to constitute a joint committee under the chairmanship of a senior official of Ministry of Information and Media Development for resolution of problems regarding advertisements on television.
The committee will comprise representatives of PTV, Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Advertising Association. It will deliberate upon issues concerning advertisement on state media. Its first meeting will be held within next 2 weeks.
The meeting, in recognition of the fact that bulk of advertisement business originates from Karachi, decided that PTV would open an advertisement commercial facility in the city.
Keeping in view the fact that majority of advertisement agencies are located in the city, it was decided to setup Karachi Chapter of the PTV Censor Board for advertisements to facilitate them here and save time and money.
During the meeting, the Chairman PTVC and PBC, Khawaja Ejaz Sarwar and MD PTC presented the official point of view to advertisers and the policy about advertisement in the country.
The meeting was attended, among others, by officials of Press Information Department and members of Pakistan Advertising Association.ÑAPP
