PMA Long Course veterans celebrate golden jubilee of commission

KAKUL: The veterans of first PMA Long Course celebrated the golden jubilee of their commission in a simple but impressive way here at the Pakistan Military Academy.

Brig. Sardar Ahmed (Retd), while speaking on the occasion on behalf of his course mates, said, "Long ago the torch was passed to a new generation and now a new century ushers in younger generation in this process of vever-ending turnover and change.

"When we reflect, we find that our course being the 1st PMA course saw the country, the nation and the PMA in their infancy, and now by the grace of Almighty Allah they are all grown up trees."

The participants also observed a minute of silence as a sign of respect for the departed souls and offered Fateha. Brig. Sardar (Retd) also paid rich tributes to his course mate Maj. Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider.

Course Coordinator Maj. Gen. Azhar Syed (Retd) highlighted the achievements of the first PMA Long Course.

Earlier, as many as 30 officers assembled at the Artillery Officers Mess, Rawalpindi, and drove up to the PMA. On arriving at the PMA, Deputy Commandant of PMA Brig. Waseem Ahmed Ashraf gave them a rousing welcome.

He told the veterans that the academy was still following the footprints and sublime standards set by the first PMA course.

The course senior officer, Brig. Luqman Mahmood unveiled a monument established in memory of the first PMA Long Course, with incription of the names of the participating cadets. PPI
