Bishop expresses solidarity with Kashmiris
LAHORE: The Rt Rev Dr. Alexander John Malik, Bishop of Lahore and Chairman Peace, Justice and Human Rights Commission of the Church of Pakistan, in a statement expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people. He said Kashmir belongs to Kashmiri, and strongly condemned the violation of human rights in the held valley. He urged the international community to play their role in halting the genocide of Kashmiris by India, and called for an immediate stop to the bloody drama in the occupied territory.ÑAPP
ULF thanks DG CAA
KARACHI: The United Labour Front (ULF) of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has thanked the Director General, CAA, Air Marshal Aliuddin for approving medical facilities for the parents of the employees and move-over to the eligible staffers. In a statement here on Friday the ULF Press Secretary, Shahzad Naqvi said medical facility to parents and grant of move-over were long standing demands and DG's timely approval regarding these issues have revived employees' confidence in the authority.ÑAPP
Two awarded death sentence
SAHIWAL: Additional Sessions Judge Sahiwal, Sheikh Mohammad Kaleem has awarded death sentence in a double murder case to accused Amanat Joya and Mohammad Yaqoob. They will also be fined Rs. 50,000 each. According to the prosecution, a couple of years ago in Chak 140/0-L the accused farmers had killed two persons Ramazan and Abdul Waheed over an old enmity. Dera Rahim police had registered the case and arrested them.ÑAPP
Three murdered in vendetta killings
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Five accused Ismail, Kholol, Ghulam, Hassan and Hayatani shot dead three perons of the same family including a woman, and injured two others to reportedly avenge the murder of a relative. Those gunned down are Dost Mohammad, his brother Ghulam Mustafa and neice Kulsoom, while the injured are Ghulam Haider and Sahira. The accused broke into the house of one Shah Ali when he was not in home in Drahama, 10 miles off DG Khan, and shot down three members of the family, critically injuring two others to avenge the murder of their brother Habibullah.ÑAPP
Seerat Conference from 11th
BAHAWALPUR: A three-day International Seerat Conference is being held at the Islamic University, Bahawalpur from February 11 to 13, 2000. Muslim scholars, researchers and teachers of international fame from all over the country and abroad will present papers on different aspects of the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). THe University sources said it is an honour for the Islamic University to host such a conference on Seerat-un-Nabi.ÑAPP
