Masood Azhar
launched
'Jaish Mohammad'
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Maulana Mohammed Masood Azhar has launched his party, Jaish Mohammed, to fight against Indian oppression in held Kashmir.
In a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club on Friday the chairman of Majlis Ta-awun Islami, Pakistan, Mufti Doctor Nizamuddin Shamzai on behalf of Maulana Azhar, who was also present at the occasion, announced the formation of the party.
"We have invited all Kashmiri freedom fighters individually to join the party as we feel that freedom fighters are disorganised in their fight against India to liberate Kashmir," Mufti Shamzai said.
Maulana Azhar was freed from an Indian jail with two other freedom fighters on December 31, 1999 in return for the release of 155 hostages held captive on an Indian airlines plane that had been hijacked and forced to land at Kandhar, Afghanistan.
Mufti Shamzai was of the view that the Jaish Mohammed under its Amir, Maulana Azhar, would play a dynamic role against the Indian forces in held Kashmir. "We are only focused in held Kashmir," he said.
The constitution of the party was under preparation and would be announced soon, Mufti Shamzai.
Maulana Azhar refused to speak on the occasion. "I am here not to address Press conference, but to witness the announcement ceremony. Mufti Shamzai is here to talk on my behalf," Maulana Azhar said.
