Iran interested
in export of
electricity
to Pakistan
LAILA A ALI
QUETTA: Iran has renewed its interest in the export of its surplus electricity to Pakistan at competitive rates. The electricity will be used in Balochistan with focus on Makran division, rich in fisheries resources and in Chagi district abounds in metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.
Diplomatic sources said here on Thursday that electricity from Iran to Makran and Chagi might cost little over Rs 307 million as compared to Rs 7 billion if these areas connected with national grid.
Once the deal is strict these sources added, transmission line would initially be extended from Mir Jawa (Iran) to Pak-Iran tiny border town of Taftan. Later the same line would be extended to the areas in Chagi and Makran.
