The dollar further gained strength against the rupee in the currency exchange establishments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Thursday.

The market resumed trading with a comparatively better greenback at Rs 54.10 against the overnight rate of Rs 54.02. The rupee remained glued to its morning levels and was sold at Rs 54.15 against the Wednesday's rate of Rs 54.10.

Money changers were of the view that market opened on a firm note following expansion in trade volume in the first session. The sentiment remained positive throughout the day and the market finally closed on a healthy note.

Pound sterling was bought and sold at Rs 87 and Rs 87.50 respectively. The British currency moved within the range of Rs 87 and Rs 87.10 as buyers and sellers remained active in trading of pound throughout the day.

The UAE dirham started the day at Rs 14.77 and sellers offered three paisa more at Rs 14.80. The Saudi riyal opened at Rs 14.44 and was sold at Rs 14.48.

Japanese currency was bought and sold at Rs 0.49 and Rs 0.50 respectively.

German mark remained glued to its overnight levels as it started the day at Rs 26.90 and was sold at Rs 27.10 respectively.
