Poultry farmers flay rise in feed prices
RECORDER REPORT
FAISALABAD: The poultry farmers have strongly reacted to the increase in feed prices by Rs 15 per bag.
The feed millers have increased the price on the plea that they were compelled to take this harsh step to maintain the quality of their product in the wake of increase in the prices of soyabean and other feed ingredients.
However, this increase has negative repercussion on the broiler market as the poultry farmers were already forced to sell their product at below the cost rate.
Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) Punjab Zone Convener Rana Rauf Anwar, and President Rana Zaheer Hussain said that it was possible for the feed millers to check the price hike for some time as the poultry farmers were already hard pressed. They said that this increase will have down stream impact and the production of broiler will faced a steep decline within the next three months. They demanded of the government to save the poultry industry from total collapse.
