India says six soldiers dead in attack by Pakistan
JAMMU: Pakistan troops attacked a border post in the disputed Kashmir region on Sunday killing six Indian soldiers, an Indian defence official said.
Two more Indian soldiers were missing after the pre-dawn attack on the post near Laam in Nowshera sector, 185 km (114 miles) north of Jammu, said the official who did not want to be named.
"The post is covered on three sides by Pakistan and they attacked...killing six of our jawans (soldiers)," the defence official at the Indian army's 16 corp headquarters said.
Jammu is the winter capital of India's Jammu and Kashmir state.
Tension has mounted in recent weeks along the 740-km (460 mile) military Line of Control.
Pakistan earlier this week accused Indian troops of crossing over the control line and killing 15 of its civilians. New Delhi denied the allegation.-Reuters
