Embezzlement:
ACE orders
arrest of three
taxation officials
RECORDER REPORT
MULTAN: Additional Director, Anti-Corruption Establishment Multan, has ordered immediate arrest of three chief officers of Zila Council Muzaffargarh allegedly involved in the embezzlement of Rs. 15 million as the inquiry report No. 293/96 was reopened which shelved in 1996.
Official sources said here on Sunday that former chairman of District Council Muzaffargarh, Mian Ghulam Abbass Qureshi ex-MNA, three ex-chief officers, Javed Shaheen, Ghulam Hussain, Shaikh Khalid Naseer and one Zahid Javed taxation officer Mohammad Iqbal district engineers Mehmood-ul-Hassan Ansari and Ghulam Fareed were found guilty of embezzlement of Rs. 15 million as and confirmed by audit report.
The report said that Rs. 1,702,570 were misappropriated in taxes, Rs. 2 million in allotment of contract of Zila tax during 1990-91 similarly huge funds were embezzled in "Mandi Muveshian" development projects. An inquiry report was completed and submitted on March 12, 1996, but the file of this case was put in shelf without taking any legal action against them.
The Director Anti-Corruption Punjab Col. Tariq Sadaqat was reopened the case and asked the concerned officers to finalise the inquiry within a week official sources said that three cases were registered against them and challan of this case would be submitted to the court of special judge Anti-Corruption.
