Asghar wants change in system
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Tehreek-i-Istiqlal leader Air Marshal Asghar Khan (Retd) on Sunday said corrupt politicians shifted Rs. 90 billion in the foreign banks in the past.
He was addressing a public meeting at Naivela Town, about 20 kilometres from here.
Asghar Khan said those who looted the national wealth were demanding the restoration of democracy to continue their looting process. They used national resources for their own vested interests. They deposited the looted national wealth and resources outside the country. They also made assets worth billion rupees, he said.
Asghar Khan said that these elements wanted the restoration of the same corrupt system for their vested interests. They again wanted to befool the people in the name of democracy. He said that Tehrik-i-Istiqlal wanted change in the system. He said that change of faces or revival of old faces would serve no purpose. He said that they were striving the change of system for the last 30 years. They had also presented themselves, and their manifesto before the nation. If the people did not want them, then they should at least change the system.
He said jagirdars, industrialists, vested opportunists, did not hand over rule to elected representatives in East Pakistan.
Asghar Khan said that foreign sponsors of vested politicians were also demanding restoration of democracy, so that these politicians could again loot and shift national wealth to these countries. These leaders gave Klashnikov, heroin, Pajero culture, created timber mafia, out of looted national resources. They gave gifts of price hike, lawlessness, sectarianism and unemployment to the nation, he added. APP
