RECORDER REPORT
MULTAN: Tehrik-e-Istaqlal Chief Air Marshal Asghar Khan (Retd) was optimistic that democracy would be restored within two years after transparent and fair elections as there would be no permission for the plunders, looters, self-seekers and exploiters to make part in the general elections.
Delivering speech at a reception of Malik Wazir Ahmed Awan here on Saturday, Asghar Khan said: "Corruption cancer is at last stage in Pakistan and the government would take time to remove it".
He assured that every corrupt and dishonest would be taken to task and no one would go on punished.
Asghar said: "Bill Clinton's visit to Pakistan had no significance".
However, he further said it would be in the interest of the United States not to forget its bad-days friends. He ruled out the possibility of peace in South Asia without resolving the occupied Kashmir issue, which was a flash-point.
He said Indo-Pak was not possible in the near-future. He said: "President Tarar was mere a rubber stamp who never created any problem for the rulers". Dr Ghulam Hussain, Secretary General, Malik Wazir Ahmed Awan, Suhail Gandapore and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
