No danger to Clinton's life: WP fears dispelled
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior on Saturday strongly dispelled the impression that President Clinton's life would be endangered if he visited Pakistan.
"Pakistani security services are highly professional and motivated outfits, who know their job very well," said an Interior Ministry spokesman, clarifying a news item published in a section of the press quoting Washington Post.
"The life and safety of any dignitary visiting Pakistan is their responsibility and no one should have any doubts about that," the spokesman said, commenting on Washington Post news item which said: "US secret services fear that President Clinton's life would be endangered, if he visits Pakistan next month, because Pakistani security services are heavily infiltrated by anti-American militants."
The spokesman reminded the world that Pakistan security agencies have carried out many successful operations in the past to counter hijackers and other terrorists.
