NDRMC sub-committees
asked to present
reports tomorrow
LAHORE: The National Debt Reduction and Management Committee has asked its four sub-committees to present their reports by Monday, official sources said on Saturday.
These sub-committees were formed on February 10 at a meeting of the National Debt Reduction and Management Committee (NDRMC), chaired by Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz. The sub-committees were assigned the specific task of facilitating NDRMC in submission of its interim report and final recommendations to the federal government at the earliest possible.
The sub-committees have been assigned to brief NDRMC on specific issues of 'effectiveness of government development spending', 'overall economic framework for debt reduction', 'cost of domestic borrowing' and 'institutional arrangements for debt management' respectively.
The sub-committees have been asked to contain the reports of their respective findings to within 20 pages each.
The sub-committee on 'effectiveness of government development spending' is headed by Secretary Statistic Division Fazlullah Qureshi and includes Economic Affairs Division Secretary Naveed Ahsan, Punjab Planning and Development Chairman Tariq Sultan and Quaid-e-Azam University Assistant Professor Dr Aliya H Khan.
The sub-committee on 'overall economic framework for debt reduction' is headed by State Bank of Pakistan's Economic Adviser Dr Mushtaq Khan, and includes Dr Ayesha Ghous Pasha, and Macro Planning and Development Division Chief Dr M Shaukat Ali.
The sub-committee on 'cost of domestic borrowing' is headed by Ministry of Finance Additional Secretary M Younis Khan, and includes State Bank of Pakistan's Economic Adviser Dr Mushtaq Khan among members.
The sub-committee on 'institutional arrangements for debt management' is headed by Islamic Development Bank Peshawar Chairman Bashir Ahmad, and includes EAD Additional Secretary Mohammed Akram Khan, Ministry of Finance Adviser Dr Tariq Hassan, SBP's Chief Economic Adviser Ashraf Janjua and Quaid-e-Azam University Assistant Professor Dr Aliya H Khan as members.
