Work on SEPZ in full swing

SIALKOT: Development work on Sialkot Export Processing Zone (SEPZ) sprawling over an area of 240 acres, is in full swing. Information sources told this correspondent that SEPZ would have about 900 plots of four different categories. SEPZ is the second biggest zone country which is being set up jointly be Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA), Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC), and Sialkot Commerce and Industry, sources added. The project will be completed at a cost of more than Rs 110 the customs house and administrative block had already been constructed in the zone. Sources further said the government would provided incentives and facilities to the business community of Sialkot. They said that 50,000 gallons of water would be supplied to SEPZ per day. In addition water requirement will be met from a tubewell of three cusecs capacity which will function 20 hours a day. Similarly, international telex and telephone services will be made available through a 400-line digital electronic exchange linked with all parts of the world by satellite communication.ÑPPI

Free medical camp today

SHEIKHUPURA: A free medical camp under the aegis of Qutab Health Care would be held at nearby village Ali Pur Khokhran from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Feb 27. A team of renowned doctors after check-up will give medicines to patients free of cost. The organiser of the camp is Dr Zafarullah Malik of 'England Zealous Laboratory' Lahore.ÑAPP

Case registered against revenue officials

SHEIKHUPURA: Anti-corruption Sheikhupura has registered a case against four persons including Naib Tehsildar oncharges of corruption. Naib Tehsildar Zafar Alam Shah, Gurdawar, Patwari Muzaffar and Mohammad Yousaf were allegedly involved in selling 800 kanals of irrigation land and one shop of Zulqarnain, Hussain Ahmad and Iftikhar Ahmad, the cousins of Incharge of Anti-corruption Sheikhupura, by preparing fake documents and misuse of their powers.ÑAPP

Gangs busted

SIALKOT: The district police have smashed five inter-district gangs of dacoits, thieves and robbers involved in 25 cases of dacoities and robberies. It was stated by SSP Sialkot Ghalib Ali Badesha while talking here on Saturday. He said police have arrested ten members of the gang including their ring leaders. The police is raiding for the arrest of remaining members, he added. Meanwhile, city circle police have arrested two notorious dacoits namely Ishaq Masih alias Tara Masih and Mohammad Arif and recovered two cars and nine motorcycle from their possession. The police also arrested 22 proclaimed offenders, 16 of them were involved in heinous crimes. Badesha said there is great decline in the incidents of crimes after the arrest of the five gangs.ÑPPI

Rs 20m for new BISE building

D G KHAN: Punjab government has provided Rs 20 million as first instalment for the construction of new building of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, D G Khan. The new building of the board will be constructed at a total cost of Rs 40 million and work on this will start soon.ÑAPP

Seven poachers arrested

LAHORE: The raiding team of Punjab Wildlife Department, during a drive against illegal hunting of Starling, has arrested seven persons. According to Punjab Wildlife Department sources the team apprehended these poachers from Juranwala. Later, the accused were sent to the jail on judicial remand till March 6.ÑAPP

SHO Case booked

D G KHAN: On the orders of the Lahore High Court, Multan Bench, a case has been registered against the D G Khan additional SHO Saddar, on charge of torturing, arresting and seizing Rs 25,000 from Mustafa Shah. The SHO also implicated Mustafa Shah in a false case.ÑAPP
