Industrial and general statistics acts amended
ISLAMABAD: President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar on Saturday promulgated two ordinances to amend Industrial Statistics Act, 1942 (XIX of 1942) and General Statistics Act, 1975 (LXIX of 1975).
According to a notification of the Ministry of Law, Justice, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs, these ordinances are named as Ordinance No: VI of 2000 and Ordinance No: VII of 2000.
Following is the text of the Ordinance VI of 2000:
"Further to amend the Industrial Statistics Act, 1942."
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Industrial Statistics Act, 1942, (XIX of 1942), for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
And whereas the National Assembly and the Senate stand suspended in pursuance of the Proclamation of emergency of the fourteenth day of October, 1999 and the Provincial Constitution Order No. 1 as amended;
And whereas the President is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary to take immediate action;
Now, therefore, in pursuance of Proclamation of the fourteenth day of October, 1999, and Provincial Constitution Order No. 1 as amended as well Order No. 9 of 1999, and in exercise of all powers enabling him in that behalf, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-
"Short title and commencement.- (1) This Ordinance may be called the Industrial Statistics (Amendment) Ordinance, 2000.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
Amendment of section of 8, Act XIX of 1942.- In the Industrial Statistics Act, 1942, (XIX of 1942), hereinafter referred to as the said Act, in section 8,-
(i) for the words 'five thousand' the words 'twenty thousand' shall be substituted; and
(ii) for the words 'two hundred' the words 'eight hundred' shall be substituted.
3. Amendment of section 9, Act XIX of 1942.- In the said Act, in section 9, for the words 'one thousand' the words 'four thousand' shall be substituted."
Text of the Ordinance VII of 2000:
"Whereas it is expedient to amend the General Statistics Act, 1975 (LXIX of 1975), for the purposes hereinafter appearing, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-
Amendment:
"Short title and commencement.- (1) This Ordinance may be called the General Statistics (Amendment) Ordinance, 2000.
"It shall come into force at once."
"Amendment of section 13, Act LXIX of 1975.- In the General Statistics Act, 1975 (LXIX of 1975), hereinafter referred to as the said Act, in section 13,-
(i) for the words 'one thousand' the words 'seven thousand' shall be substituted; and
(ii) for the words 'five hundred' the words 'three thousand five hundred' shall be substituted.
Amendment of section 15, Act LXIX of 1975.- In the said Act, in section 15, for the words "one thousand" the words "seven thousand" shall be substituted.ÑAPP
