Action against police officers approved

KARACHI: A meeting of the Anti-Corruption Committee, which met here under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, reviewed a number of cases of corruption and malpractices against the government functionaries and accorded approval to action against these.

The committee approved the submission of challans against ASI of CIA Saddar, Ismail Lashari, Head Muharrar Zafar, ASI Ali Murad Shaikh and Head Constable Murad Ali of New Karachi, ASI Javed Iqbal Baloch and Constable Javed of CIA Jackson on charges of corruption.

Ismail Lashari and Zafar were charged with receiving Rs 20,000 as bribe from complainant Achar. Murad Ali and Ali Murad Shaikh were charged with demanding Rs 20,000 from a fish seller and then let him go on payment of Rs 6,000. Javed Iqbal and Constable Javed had demanded Rs 10,000 from complainant Mohammed Hanif and receiving Rs 2,000 from him.

The meeting approved departmental action against ASI Saulat Hussain and Head Constable Shabbir Ahmed of Jauharabad P. S. They had filed a wrong FIR against Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) Constable Faiz Jamal.

Besides, decision was taken for departmental action against SI Hilal Ahmed of Garden police station and ASI Khalid and Constable Abid of KPT police station.

On the compaint of Shah Jabin, the committee decided to transfer the case of fraud against Ubaid Ansari to the police. The complaint against sub-registrar in this case was discharged.

Complainant Shah Jabin had approached the Anti-Corruption Department that charging sub-registrar Ubaid Ansari of committing fraud by carrying out fake sale deed of plot No B-216, Block-L, North Nazimabad, belonging to her father Azmat Ali Khan, who died in 1987.

Approval was also given for registration of cases against ASI Nawaz Brohi, ASI Mohammed Ayub, ASI Nadir Bhutto, Inspector Akhtar Ali Pathan, Constable Mohammed Farooq while inquiry was ordered against Sub-Registrars Sarfraz Ahmed Nerejo and Abdul Fateh and ASI Javed of CIA Jamshed Quarters.ÑAPP
