EPB receives cotton gloves export order from Japan

KARACHI: The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has received an offer from a leading Japanese importer for export of 10,000 dozens cotton works gloves every month.
The EPB has circulated the offer among members of the Pakistan Readymade Garments and Manufacturers Association (Prgmea) to avail of the lucrative offer on a regular basis.
Prgmea (Central) Chairman Javed Chinoy, has described the offer from a Japan a major breakthrough in textile made-ups exports. He said that offer was a good opportunity to enter the Japanese market which called for high standard of products. He said that the export inquiry and its successful fulfillment would pave way for opening of outlets for other textile products from Pakistan.
Earlier Azam Mohammed, Pakistan's Commercial Counsellor in Tokyo, in a letter to Director, Textiles, EPB said that Link Corporation of Nagano-Ken, Japan wanted to import 10,000 dozens of 100 percent cotton gloves per month from Pakistan. The firm is also a leading importer of ladies garments for which they intend to visit Pakistan later.
He said that the firm wanted one dozen samples of each size of gloves alongwith FoB and C&F Tokyo price. He asked the EPB to request reputable manufacturers to send the samples to the Pakistan Embassy.
Meanwhile, a leading exporter of gloves told Business Recorder that there was good demand for gloves made of cotton, polyester, and leather in the world markets. He said that he had booked export orders till July 2000 and was not in a position to accept orders for delivery before July 2000. The average export price of glove ranges between three to four dollar.
