Global changes start impacting market, says Daudpota
KARACHI: Sindh Governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) has said that changes in the global environment have already started impacting the Pakistani market.
He said with technological and communication breakthrough witnessed in recent years and virtual shrinking of the world with innovations like the Internet and satellite link, creating a competitive edge through professional expertise and competence had become critical.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the National Conference on "Professional competencies and values required for national growth," organised by Pakistan Society for Trainning and Development (PSTD) at a local hotel here on Thursday.
Daudpota emphasised that new successful organisation culture would have to be flexible and responsive to the on-going changes and place increasing importance on professional competencies and the importance of good governance.
If individuals and teams are effective in terms of competence and integrity, their actions will influence the performance of the organisation and help enhance and sustain national growth.
The governor said professional expertise and leadership, therefore, did not only belong to the top echelons of an organisation, it was needed at all levels. There was a need for organisational culture to be conductive to professional growth at all levels.
He observed that this conference had brought many such issues to the forefront and we must make a concerted effort to address these issues if we were to succeed in the new and challenging environment of today.
Azim Daudpota said that the inputs of distinguished participants of this conference and the wide ranging topics under discussion had been extremely enlightening.
He said the speakers had presented papers in their areas of expertise and eminent senior representatives of the multinationals and other organisations and institutions have made valuable contributions.
He noted that educational institutions, business houses and large corporations had participated in the conference, exhibition and provided useful information about human resource development activities, materials, equipments and career opportunities.
The governor congratulated PSTD on drawing delegates from all over Pakistan, both from the public and private sectors, to this conference.
He wished PSTD success in organising such conference and seminars in the future and for providing a forum for discussing the all important issues of managing, developing and efficiently using over valuable human resources.
