AJK teachers end 10-day strike

Muzaffarabad: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) teachers on Thursday ended 10-day long protest strike after negotiation with the government.
AJK Senior Minister Sahibzada Mohammed Ishaq Zaffar with a team of government high officials held negotiation with the head of Azad Kashmir Teachers Association parleys committee Syed Nazeer Hussian, its members Sardar Farooq Hussian, Azizurehman Abbasi, Mrs.Rashida Kiyani, Raja Akhtar Hussian and Sardar Mohammed Arif.
After successful negotiations, the government issued notification of restoration of teachers sons' quota in recruitment, leave salary and promotion of seniority bases.
Sahibzada Mohammed Ishaq Zaffar on this occasion announced that the government had accepted all the demands of striking teachers and directed them to start performing their duties from Friday.
A teachers'delegation will meet AJK Prime Minister Sultan Mehmood Choudhary in Mirpur on Thursday and will thank him on accepting the demands.
Schools remained closed for 10 days across the AJK before the commencement of annual examinations.
