Technology gap
between Pakistan,
rest of nations
comes to zero

KARACHI: The technology gap between Pakistan and the rest of the countries of the world has come to zero, James W Jarrett, Vice President, Intel and President Intel China stated at get-together held by Intel Pakistan Corporation at a local hotel on Thursday.
He said that information technology awareness was increasing to a considerable extent in the secondary cities in Pakistan. Intel was now aiming at promoting information technology at grass-root level.
During 1999, business in Korea and South East Asia also grew and North Asia was becoming a design and manufacturing centre for internet platforms.
He said Intel's year 2000 vision included more powerful building block products and programmes to support the internet industry to deliver them at the internet economy.
Intel has taken a lead in designing latest products for the benefit of its customers. For three decades, Intel Corporation had developed technology enabling the computer and internet revolution that changed the face of the world. Intel's mission is to be the pre-eminent building supplier to the worldwide internet economy.
About the e-commercialisation, he said that Intel had given full support to build service capabilities and win the online enterprise and helped ISPs to build host-based services.
Earlier, the Country Manager, Intel Pakistan Corporation, Mohsin Iqbal, giring a brief account of Intel activities in Pakistan, said Intel's business in Pakistan has seen tremendous growth during the year 1999 despite the change in the government.
He said that the company had held various seminars and workshops on IT subject with a view to promoting the technology. It also organised various programmes for educational institutions to create awareness of information technology among the students.
