Efforts on to develop engg industry, says Razak

ISLAMABAD: Commerce Minister Abdul Razak Dawood said on Wednesday the government will make all-out efforts to develop engineering industry in the country.

The engineering industry will contribute a lot towards the socio-economic uplift of the masses, he said while addressing the representatives of various sectors of engineering industry.

The minister informed them that the government believed in a system, which is transparent and viable enough to improve the situation.

Dawood said he was interested in knowing the real hurdles and bottlenecks of various industrial sectors through these meetings. It will help frame policies based on merit and comprehensive enough to meet the required targets of local and international market.

The delegation exchanged ideas on various aspects of engineering industry and presented some suggestions about restructuring of tariff, deletion programme, smuggling, raw material, import duties and prices of finished goods. APP
