Kissan festivals at tehsil level from March 1

FAISALABAD: District administration has chalked out a comprehensive programme for Kissan Festivals at tehsil level to reactivate rural life and provide entertainment to the farmers throughout the district.

Deputy Commissioner Hasan Nawaz Tarar Chairing a meeting in his office on Tuesday said first Kissan Festival for Tehsil Summundri will be held in Chak No 476 GB Rajana Road from March, 1-3. Two festivals will be held in Tehsil Tandlianwala from March 4-6. One will be held in Sports Complex Tandlianwala and second in Town Committee Mamunkanjan. Another Kissan Festival will be held near Chak No 232 RB Niamoaana for Sadar Sub division from March 7-14. The last tehsil level Kissan Festival will he held in Municipal Stadium Jaranwala from March 21 to 23.

He said that agriculture, irrigation, health, livestock, forest, fishery, Wapda, Telephone, district council, population welfare and revenue departments will set up their stalls to provide necessary information to the people besides redressing their genuine problems on the spot. Traditional games like wrestling, kabaddi, tug of war, pegging, disc throw, and football etc., katchi takees, death well, circus, jhumar, PT show, horse dance, bhangra, dog race and kite-flying contests are part of the festival.

The deputy commissioner said that government is committed to resolving people's problems at their door-step and in this connection administration has decided to hold open katcheries during the Kissan Festivals. "Complaint cells will also be set up to resolve their problems without any inordinate delay", he said and added that the facility of cattle market will also be provided to the farmers for the sale and purchase of animals. He further said that elaborate measures are being taken to make these Kissan Festivals a success.
