IIU reference on Maulana Nadvi held Our armed forces capable of thwarting enemy's designs: Tarar
ISLAMABAD: President Rafiq Tarar said on Monday "our gallant armed forces are capable of thwarting Indian aggression and we would not be intimidated by India's threatening statements.
He was answering a query regarding statement uttered by Indian Prime Minister while talking to mediamen after opening a reference held at International Islamic University (IIU) in memory of eminent Muslim scholar, Maulana Syed Abu-ul-Hasan Ali Nadvi.
The reference was organised by Islamic Research Institute of the university and attended by large number of scholars besides rector and president of IIU.
To another question about taking all political parties into confidence regarding Indian threats, Rafiq Tarar said "ask this question from the concerned quarter." The whole nation and government is united to safeguard every inch of the motherland, he mentioned.
President also called upon the international community to take notice of brutalities being committed on innocent Kashmiris by Indian occupation forces in occupied Kashmir. He regretted that these violations are not noticed by international community which is encouraging Indian leadership to make such threatening statements against Pakistan.
Paying rich tributes, President Tarar termed the death of Maulana Nadvi as a loss of the whole Muslim Ummah.
The life of Maulana Abu-ul-Hasan Nadvi presents a picture of a person attuned to truth and who spent every moment of his life in service of Islam and the Muslim Ummah, the president said.
While living in an idol worshipping atmosphere of India he became the most reliable and most potent voice of the entire Islamic world.
He always prayed for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, President added.
"By the Grace of Almighty Allah Pakistan has become a nuclear state but unfortunately "we could not achieve such excellence in the fields of science, technology and socio-economics," he said.
He lauded the efforts of International Islamic University (IIU) in the field of learning and hoped this unique Islamic institution would continue its active role in future as well.
Welcoming the President Rafiq Tarar, Rector International Islamic University and former caretaker prime minister, Malik Meraj Khalid also thanked Dr. Zafar Ishaq Ansari and the Islamic Research Institute for convening this seminar to pay homage to late Maulana Abu-ul-Hasan Nadvi.
He said that the luminous legacy of Maulana Nadvi makes us proud that by living and working among us he succeeded in reincarnating Islam and in the light of his teaching the whole humanity has been apprised of the eternal truth of the Islamic religion.
Late Maulana Nadvi was also awarded the Shah Faisal Award in 1980 for his invaluable services for Islam. He has authored many books on the Western and Islamic tussle and has chronicled the rise and fall of Islamic influence on humanity.
Meraj Khalid said Maulana Nadvi was the founding member of International Islamic University Islamabad and remained its trustee till his death.
A number of religious scholars and researchers also paid homage to Maulana Nadvi.ÑAPP
