CJs committee to discuss judicial vacancies on 26th

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Irshad Hassan Khan has moved to fill in the vacancies at all levels of judicial system and also for expeditious clearance of "choking backlog" of cases.

He has put these two searing questions on top of his agenda and summoned the Chief Justices Committee to seek solutions.

He has asked the Chief Justices of High Courts and also that of the Federal Shariat Court to bring data on work load before their courts and also before the subordinate judiciary under their jurisdiction when they come to Islamabad on February 26.

The Chief Justice has told his colleagues to bring with them proposals to "evolve a strategy to determine the priorities in a coherent and constructive way for the clearance of the backlog on priority basis."

He also seems to be aware of the vacancies in higher and subordinate judiciary and wishes to fill them on priority basis and has asked the Committee members to bring in their recommendations with them.

The Committee has been convened for a day's session but officials said that if needed it could be carried over to the next day which is Sunday.
