KARACHI: The Executive Committee of the APNS has accorded the APNS Millennium Award to S. H. Hashmi, Managing Director, Orient Advertising (Pvt) Ltd, said Arshad A. Zuberi, Secretary General of the APNS on Wednesday.

As Pakistan's pioneering advertising practitioner for over half a century, Hashmi has shown consistent leadership in print media advertising.

His unprecedented performance is clearly exhibited with bagging of the Best Business Performance Award by Orient for 15th consecutive year.

The 15th Awards were adjudged on the performance of the advertising agencies for the years 1997 and 1998. The Awards would be given away by the Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf at a ceremony scheduled to be held by the end of February this year at Karachi. M/s. Orient Advertising (Pvt) Limited is followed by M/s. Interflow Communications (Pvt) Limited and M/s. Maxim Advertising Co (Pvt) Limited for second and third positions respectively in the Business Performance Category.

The 15th APNS Awards adjudged on the business placed by Agencies with member publications are as follows:

SPECIAL BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AWARD: Midas (Pvt) Limited, Lahore.

SPECIAL BUSINESS AWARDS: Periodcal Ñ R Lintas (Pvt) Limited, Metropolitan B Publications Ñ Maxim Advertising Co (Pvt) Limited, Regional Publications Ñ Orient Advertising (Pvt) Limited.

CLIENT PERFORMANCE AWARDS: Private Sector: Pak Suzuki Motor Company Ltd (Orient) Ñ 1st, Liver Brothers Pakistan Ltd (R.Lintas) Ñ 2nd, Citi Bank (Interflow) Ñ 3rd.

CLIENT PERFORMANCE AWARDS Public Sector: Central Board of Revenue ÑÊ(Midas) 1st, Habib Bank Limited ÑÊ(Interflow) 2nd, Population Census Organisation Ñ (Midas) 3rd.

BEST COPY URDU: Adarts (Karachi) Ltd for M/s. Hamdard Waqf Pakistan Limited Advertisement, "captioned".

BEST VISUAL COLOURS: Asiatic Advertising (Pvt) Limited for M/s. Lipton Advertising captioned "Double Chamber Twice the Flavour"

BEST VISUAL BLACK & WHITE: Prestige Communications (Pvt) Limited for M/s Sony Advertisement captioned "Offering a Service Network All Over Pakistan".

PUBLIC SERVICE CAMPAIGN: The judges decided that the entries in the public service category are not up to the standard of the APNS award hence a certificate of commendation be given to M/s. Interflow Communications (Pvt) Limited for its advertisement captioned "VIOLENCE Today's Witness may be Tomorrows Criminal".

The APNS President has nominated Sh. Muhammad Sabir Qadri, Manager. Public Relations and advertising, Pakistan State Oil Company Limited for presidential award for Public Relationing.ÑPR
