MCL directed to help arrange 'rehri bazars'

Lahore: Station Commander, Lahore, Brig. Shabbir Nawaz, has directed the Metropolitan Corporation, Lahore (MCL), to make arrangements for holding 'rehri bazars' alongside the main roads in the city.

According to a MCL spokesman, during a briefing at the 10-Divisional Headquarters here on Saturday, Brig. Nawaz said that the proposed 'rehri bazars', besides providing self-employment opportunities to the jobless people, would help eradicate encroachments. He directed the MCL authorities to make a plan regarding arrangements of these bazars in empty spots, particularly near Anarkail Bazar and Circular Road.

He directed the MCL authorities to seek assistance from international organisations for the purchase of machinery and other equipment for disposal of solid waste and sanitation work so that problems being faced by the people could be redressed.

He said that the construction of 22 and 56 roads were assigned to Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and National Logistic Cell (NLC), respectively, so that these could be completed on priority basis. He directed the FWO authorities to ensure completion of Ferozepur Road before the stipulated period of August this year.

He asked the construction agencies to make alternative passages for the smooth flow of traffic so that people might not face inconvenience.
