Educated women base of prosperous family, says minister

Lahore: Punjab minister for Social Welfare and Women Development, Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rehman, has said that Pakistan was in a desperate need of educated women who could bring up the new generation in a healthy and enterprising atmosphere.

While addressing the students at Government College for Women, Chuna Mandi, here on Friday, she said that educated women are the base of a prosperous family and a chaos free society.

NWFP minister for Health, Population Welfare and Women Development, addressing the students, stressed that women must be given their due share in inherited property as given by religion.

She said that Pathan customs and traditions accord honour and respect to women. She said that the distinction between boy and girl must be erased and they should be provided equal facilities, rights and opportunities.
