Army fully ready
to counter any
aggression: CE
MULTAN: Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan Armed Forces are fully prepared to effectively counter any aggression against the motherland and described the war-mongering statements from across the border as mere utterances in frustration.
Gen Pervez Musharraf, who is also the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Army Staff, was addressing the officers and jawans of Multan and Rahim Yar Khan Garrisons on Saturday.
The Chief Executive said that the nation need not worry on account of national security as the defence of the country is in competent hands. He said we are fully alive to threats being hurled from across the border and are vigilant and capable to foil any attempt of adventurism by the adversary.
"The Armed Forces of Pakistan are held in high esteem by their people due to their commitment to the task of safeguarding the national security and territorial integrity of the motherland and they shall stand guard against all impending threats of internal and external nature," he added.
The Chief of Army Staff exhorted the officers to train their men vigorously so as to meet the future challenges to the defence of the motherland. He emphasised that the impregnable defence of the country is the onerous responsibility of the Armed Forces and that they would Insha Allah, fulfil all their obligations towards this end.
Later, the Chief Executive met the officers and informally exchanged view with them. The Corps Commander Lt Gen Mohammad Yusaf Khan was also present on the occasion.ÑAPP
