The kerb market of the twin cities observed sluggish activity as rupee gained some strength against the currency on Saturday.
The dollar fell by five paisa on the last working day. The market closed with the dollar at Rs 54.25 against the overnight rate of Rs 54.30.
Dealers said loss to the value of the dollar was not unexpected as its demand was constantly diminishing for the last few days.
Pound sterling lost as much as 25 paisa in the currency market of Islamabad/Rawalpindi. It resumed trade at 87.50 and lost the value by evening as the supply was on the rise with sale going down.
