Dr Mushtaq named SBP adviser

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan has appointed Dr Mushtaq Khan, chief economist, ABN-Amro Bank, as economic adviser of the bank.

According to a press release issued by the SBP on Saturday, Dr. Khan's contract appointment is for a period of two years.

Dr Khan, who holds a Ph.D. degree from Stanford University, USA, has been writing extensively on a range of subjects, particularly on the external sector and Pakistan's macro-economy. Prior to joining ABN-Amro Bank, he was associated with the National Development Finance Corporation.

In business and financial circles, Dr Khan is regarded as an economist with an excellent analytical mind.
