killings: SC
declares plea
infructuous
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday declared infructuous a petition filed in 1996 against Benazir Bhutto government for alleged extra-judicial killings in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The bench, comprising Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan and Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Arif, was hearing the petition.
The petition was filed by a resident of Hyderabad, Qazi Nisar.
He had prayed that the errests and killings were made from August 8, 1984, to June 1, 1996, without registering an FIR or by registering blanket FIR may be declared unlawful.
The court declared the petition infructuous.ÑAPP
