Czech consul general visits KSE

KARACHI: Javoslav Olsa, Consul General of the Czech Republic, visited the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and exchanged views with its office-bearers over the economic activity in the country .

KSE Vice-Chairman, Saleem Chamdia and Managing Director Shahid Ghaffar briefed the consul general about the working of the KSE and discussed various factors affecting the stocks market. General Manger Yaqoob Memon was also present on the occasion.

Chamdia explained the factors which brought the stocks in the current bullish state.

He said that the policy of liberalisation and privatisation along with the declining interest rates, good agriculture crops, government's policy on cotton, rescheduling of foreign loans, improvement in the performance of the listed companies and fertilizer policies are the major factors keeping the market high and restoring the confidence of the investors.

He also informed the Consul General about the various infrastructure development made at the KSE in order to cope-up with the increased market activity including the introduction of the full computerised trading, establishment of Central Depository Company CDC to done away with the previous manual settlements and professionalism of the management.

Osla expressed thanks for the courtesy extended to him. He said Czech Republic would be happy to further strengthen its trade relations with Pakistan.

He also briefly explained various economic policies being persuaded in his country including the promotion of the capital market and privatisation process and the problems being confronted by them.
