French Millennium Opera-Gala tomorrow

KARACHI: Consul General of France in Karachi Gilles Bonnaud, who is also the honorary chairperson of the Friends of Al-Mehrab Tibbi Imdad (AMTI) is organising a French Millennium Opera-Gala on Saturday at the Karachi Parsi Institute (KPI).

French soprano Marie Devellereau, the ravishing, rising star of the European opera world will enthral discerning opera connoisseurs. The performance will be preceded by a grand reception and followed by a sumptuous dinner for which a French chef has been specially flown in from Paris.

All the proceeds of the French Millennium Opera-Gala, co-sponsored by the French Consul General Gilles Bonnaud, Air France, Credit Agricole Indosuez Bank, LU Biscuits, Emirates and Efroze Chemicals will be donated to Al-Mehrab Tibbi Imdad a charitable trust providing free nursing and medical care to terminally ill poor cancer patients at its hospice in Karachi. AMTI is managed by eminent Pakistani social workers with impeccable credentials and a proven track record in the field of social assistance like Dr. Faridon Setna, Liaquat Merchant and Justice Majida Rizvi.

Last year, a similar event organised by the Friends of AMTI generated Rs 2.8 million out of which one million was contributed by an anonymous donor. This year's event is expected to raise more funds for this deserving charitable trust which is a beacon of hope for marginalised sections of society, afflicted with the deadly disease of cancer.
