Bootleg alcohol kills 30 in BD

DHAKA: Nearly 30 people died and at least 50 others were seriously ill after drinking bootleg alcohol in the town of Feni in southeastern Bangladesh, police said on Thursday.

They said the victims had participated in a drinking session on Tuesday night.

One police officer said the death toll may rise and that several shops selling bootleg alcohol in the town, 200 km (125 miles) from Dhaka, had been closed.
