Intel Corporation Vice-President coming on 22nd

KARACHI: The Vice-President of Intel Corporation and President Intel China, James W. Jarrett, will visit Pakistan from February 22 to February 24, 2000 to gauge the local e-commerce and information technology market.

According to a press release issued by Intel Pakistan Corporation on Wednesday, he is expected to meet senior government officials, chief executives of leading commercial institutions and members of the media.

Meanwhile, eight leading vendors showed on Tuesday prototype servers and workstations based on Intel Corporation's forthcoming Itanium processor at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF). Running three different operating systems and featuring several e-Business-related applications, these systems offer a preview of the extensive hardware and software offerings that will be available as Itanium processor-based systems begin shipping in the second half of 2000.

These prototype server and workstation systems feature a representative sample of innovative applications that address the demands of the rapidly evolving e-Business environment, including increased security requirements, faster response time, customisation and high service availability.
