PTCL agrees to discuss PCMA grievances
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) quickly responded to the grievances of cloth exporters about abrupt disconnection of telephones and complicated procedure for re-connection and has agreed to hold a meeting with the Pakistan Cloth Merchants Association (PCMA) to discuss their telephone problems.
M. Iqbal Mangrani, Chairman, PCMA, in a press statement published in Business Recorder had complained that the PTCL had been disconnecting telephones of the cloth exporters even if the payment was delayed for a few days and without giving any prior notices to them.
He also drew attention to a most funny action by the PTCL in cases where telephones were disconnected though the bills had been paid and on inquiry the PTCL said that their record shows that bills had not been paid.
The PCMA zonal chief had also complained about the lengthy and painful procedure of restoration of disconnected phones, resulting in delay of export and import business of the PCMA members.
He had suggested that at least 24 hours notice be given before disconnection of telephones and phones should be reconnected immediately on receipt of the paid bill on fax.
There was quick response from PTCL Director Wasim Ahmed, who agreed to visit to the PCMA office to discuss and rectify the members' complaints.
The meeting will be held shortly.
