IFC team meets Wapda chairman

LAHORE: The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a subsidiary of World Bank's Power Sector Mission, currently on a visit to Pakistan, held a meeting with Wapda Chairman Lt. Gen. Zulfiqar Ali Khan here on Tuesday.

According to a press release, the Wapda chairman briefed the mission on 'successful' negotiations held with 11 IPPs in the last few months.

He said the reduction in levelised tariff of these IPPs had resulted in a considerable saving of one billion dollars over the lifetime of the 11 IPPs.

The three-member IFC mission leader, Apniya Suebsaeng appreciated the successful efforts of Wapda. He hoped that the Government of Pakistan and Wapda would succeed in resolving the issues with the remaining few IPPs as well.

Wapda's deputy chairman and member (power) also attended the meeting.
