Ibrahim calls for early
Kashmir solution to
ensure peace in region
ISLAMABAD: The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, has called for an early solution of Kashmir dispute in order to ensure a lasting peace in the region.
He expressed these views while addressing a seminar on "Kashmir's issue in the new millennium" here on Tuesday. The one day seminar which was organised by the Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Islamabad was addressed among others by Tahir Hijazi, Raja Yasin Khan and Yousuf Aziz.
The AJK President said after the nuclearisation of South Asia, Kashmir has become a flash-point and called upon the international community to play their vital role for the solution to Kashmir dispute in order to ensure peace and prosperity in the region.
He paid glowing tributes to valiant people of occupied Kashmir who despite Indian forces oppression and state-terrorism in occupied Kashmir are facing more than 0.7 million Indian occupation forces in the occupied valley.
Ibrahim said that India has so far martyred more than 70,000 innocent Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir for demanding their birth right to self-determination.
The AJK President hoped that the sacrifices of Kashmiris would soon result in the dawn of freedom from the Indian subjugation.
Ibrahim said that the people of Kashmir would continue the Kashmir freedom movement against India till the realisation of their birth right to self-determination and complete freedom from Indian yoke.
He said India has let loose the reign of terror in occupied Kashmir and gross violations of basic human rights are continuing unabated there. India is doing all these negative tactics to quell the ongoing indigenous freedom movement launched by the valiant people of Kashmir to achieve their inalienable right to self-determination promised to them by the international community, he added.
The AJK President urged the international community and human rights organisations to exert more pressure on India for the solution to Kashmir problem according to UN resolutions on Kashmir.
He also called for a "Pak-China defence pact" in the face of Indian aggressive posture against Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.
The AJK President maintained that the Indian rigidity and obstination to solve Kashmir problem would trigger a war between India and Pakistan.
Ibrahim said that the life and honour of minorities including Muslims and Christians are not safe in India and poverty ratio has touched the alarming situation there.
He called for inculcating the spirit of Jehad among the future generation in order to prepare them for freedom of Kashmir from the Indian subjugation.
Other speakers also called for solution to Kashmir problem according to UN resolutions on Kashmir.
They also paid right tributes to struggling Kashmiris and their sacrifices for the Kashmir cause.ÑAPP
