EU will provide power to 513 Pak villages
ISLAMABAD: The European Union in collaboration with the government of Pakistan has undertaken a project for the rural electrification of 513 villages of 13 districts of Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions.
Under the first phase of the project, 290 villages have been electrified and the poor people have been provided free electricity connections.
Under the project, 125,000 houses of 513 villages will be provided connections.
Talking to PTV, the Head of European Union in Pakistan, Curt Joel said the EU would continue its support to projects in Pakistan.
He said: "This is another step forward in the modernisation of villages of Pakistan."
There were many other projects in the country in which the European Union could participate, he added.
He thanked the Pakistan government and people for extending their support in the rural electrification project.
The work on the second phase of the project is in full swing and under it 222 villages will be electrified. APP
