CE promulgates Holders of Reps Offices Laws order

ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday promulgated Holders of Representatives Offices Laws (suspension of operation) order 2000 to suspend the privileges of the parliamentarians during the suspension of the Parliament and the provincial assemblies.

Holders of representative office, "means a person who on October 12, 1999, was holding the office of a member of the National Assembly, the Senate, or a provincial assembly, the chairman and deputy chairman, Senate, the speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly, the speaker and deputy speaker of a provincial assembly and includes a person who on the said date was holding the office of a parliamentary secretary and provincial parliamentary secretary," said an official announcement here.

The order will come into effect immediately and deemed to have been taken effect on October 12, 1999 and extends to the whole of Pakistan. APP
