Site told to arrange

50 acres of land for small

industrial estate

KARACHI: Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui, Sindh Minister for Industries and Transport, has ordered Site Limited to arrange 50 acres of land in Karachi for establishment of a small industrial estate.

The minister also instructed Dr. Khawar Jameel, Managing Director, Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC), to pursue the Site Limited to get the land for the small industrial estate, which will be established under the supervision and control of the SSIC.

The SSIC has 17 small industrial estates in all administrative divisions of Sindh excluding Karachi and by adding this 18th estate this gap will be bridged

Speaking at a joint meeting of the SSIC and the Pakistan Small Chamber and Cottage and Industry (PSCCI), the minister said that Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf was keenly interested to gear-up the pace of industrialisation on medium, small and cottage industries level aimed at strengthening the national economy.

He assured both the SSIC and the PSCCI that all possible assistance would be provided in implementing the feasible projects for development and promotion of small, cottage and medium size industrial culture.

To a proposal for establishing a bank to cater to the needs of small, cottage and medium size industries, small investors and craftsmen, the minister asked to prepare a feasibility report for study and then forward it to ministries concerned with recommendation for further action.
