Allergan, Barrett sign accord

KARACHI: Allergan Asia Limited has entered into licensing agreement with Barrett Hodgson Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. for the manufacturing and marketing of their ophthalmic products in Pakistan.

Allergan had stopped its operation some two years back which led to acute shortage of the ophthalmic products in Pakistan.

"Keeping in view the need of patients and ophthalmologists, Allergan has decided to re-start its operations in Pakistan, which has culminated in an agreement with Barrett Hodgson Pakistan recently," said a press release issued on Tuesday.

Barrett Hodgson Pakistan is a well-known pharmaceutical company with strong presence in Pakistan and has licensing agreement with Astra, Sweden (AstraZeneca), Fujisawa and Sumitomo of Japan.

It has also embarked upon some new ventures, which includes marketing of veterinary products in Pakistan.

Barrett Hodgson has also set up a company in Canada to start pharmaceutical business.
